Intranet

With open source solutions, high quality intranet portals are developed.

Use of Intranet solutions can solve several problems:

  • Ensure the exchange of knowledge between employees
  • Ensure prompt notification of employees, thereby addressing the problem of errors in work because of lack of information
  • One point for contact details, so everyone is directly and quickly retrievable
  • As a communication platform, it will contribute to improving quality of the interaction between staff

Using a unique tool based on a web interface, your Intranet portal has two functions: to coordinate different content and applications, to customise the tool depending on the profile and requirements of each user.

Coordination

The portal collects all the information the user requires to carry out their work in one area. Applications containing the information can be interconnected - for example to enable single sign on.

Customisation

The intranet portal adapts the the online tool to suit the profile and preferences of each user so that resources are grouped together in as useful a way as possible. This customisation feature is based on the identification of different requirements.

Although each organisation is made up of specific businesses and procedures, these are the applications and resources that an Intranet portal normally coordinates:

  • Email, groupware and forum : the management of the company's internal and external relations;
  • Handling of news:  : feeding a consultation and management tool such as an RSS feed aggregator or web-service via internal and external sources;
  • Document management  : to coordinate the creation and distribution of multiple documents that accompany your business (see also our ECM solution) ;
  • Knowledge Management  : to capitalise on the knowledge and expertise of your employees, by implementing a learning style organisation ;
  • Administrative and HR management  : to make it easier to manage work hours, holidays, training, expenses etc.
  • Custom Business Applications  : to improve the efficiency of your daily activities.

 All of these resources and applications can be customised based on open source portal solutions such as Typo3, Jetspeed, Liferay, UPortal, or Jahia , for managing content as well as application modules. If we assign great importance to customisation features we also consider the  technical excellence  of our portals to be extremely important. These include the management of user access to the portal - and therefore to the information system - thanks to open source tools such as OpenLDAP for directories, OpenSSL for managing systems certificates and CAS for single sign on. Finally all our solutions comply with (JSR 168) standards  and (WSRP) specifications  of the best existing portals.
